A Classic Family Kitchen

The Brief

This client was looking for a classic kitchen, with a stylish and elegant feel and plenty of storage.

The room itself was open plan, leading to a conservatory area, providing a fabulous entertaining space. They had already chosen a beautiful stone floor, so we looked at the perfect colours to complement it, our Putty and Dove White colours worked really well.

They wanted all their appliances to be integrated, apart from their feature range cooker. They didn’t have a separate utility room, so below the Beverston bi-fold cabinet we concealed the laundry appliances. Inside the Beverston we installed a built-in a microwave and added sockets so small appliances could be stored on the worktop and then shut away from sight. There is also a slim larder cupboard next to the fridge which we designed specifically for utility storage for mops, brooms and general cleaning equipment.

They supplied their own Everhot 100 range cooker and wanted a feature canopy to highlight it. So, we revised the design of our classic Artisan canopy to include some open worktop-mounted storage, to create a bespoke feature canopy, made to measure for the space. One other great addition was that they wanted to find a place for a dog bed, so we created a space, just by the back door, with a shelf above for dog leads and other accessories.

The Design

One of the main challenges was that we had to hide a large boiler and a lot of pipework, which was done along the tall bank of cabinets. The fitters scribed the internal of the cupboards on site so we could maximise on storage. On the left of this run is another worktop-mounted Beverston cabinet with bi-fold door which also conceals more pipework behind.

Whilst the space initially looked like a relatively simple square, as it is such an old property there were no straight walls, and each wall had a different measurement depending on where you measured from. There were also odd lumps and bumps sticking out here and there and quite low ceilings, which called for a lot of custom-sized cabinetry and also adapting by the fitters on site.

We had previously designed and built a bespoke dressing room for this client which they loved, and so it was lovely they came back to us for the kitchen too; they specifically requested the same team that had installed the bedrooms as they were so happy with the work. (Onecall Solutions).

Style – In-frame Shaker
Colour – Main run – Putty, Island – Dove White
Worktops – CRL Verona Quartz, off white/grey with marble veining. The island also has a full stave oak section across one end.
